6volt/8volt

    got a 51 ford/stock//6volt system///will putting an 8volt battery help or hurt?

    Make sure your cables are the extra heavy correct size,good grounds and the battery that you are using has enought amps to do the job. Most readly available 6V batteries do not have the amp capacity needed. Also make sure your starter is in good shape. Optima's are good but expensive ,cheap batteries are just that cheap good for VWs. 8V is a patch if the OEMs thought it was a good fix they would have done it. And yes I've used 8 volt bats back in the day ,still was a patch.
