Technical 671 blower just got better

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by milwscruffy, Jul 23, 2020.

  1. I'm going through all my 392 Hemi stuff, from a mid 60's nitro set-up and already knew it was a cool blower with an Isky blower drive on it. So while carefully scraping gasket residue off the top surface of the blower where the Hilborn 2 port mounts I see a small stamping on the middle of the cast center support. To my surprise it's stamped POTVIN R. Now this is a conventional set-up on a Cragar blower intake, so guessing this was originally off a front drive set-up ? Don't know enough about them or what the heck the thing is worth now. Educate me if you will. Rather be lucky than good sometimes. Took some photos of it otherwise the thread is useless !!ATTACH=full]4764171[/ATTACH] 102_1391.JPG 102_1392.JPG 102_1393.JPG 102_1394.JPG 102_1389.JPG 102_1395.JPG View attachment 4764181 View attachment 4764182 View attachment 4764183

That's some cool stuff, could be some nice history if it could talk. The blower casting number is GM Detroit Diesel.

  5. Thanks, yep wish it could talk, only clue to the car was the block and heads were a medium yellow, kind of hard looking at old B/W photos and making a connection. Have had this stuff around 30 years now.

  6. So anyone know if Potvin sold these separately or simply rebuild a GMC unit and then stamped it ? Thanks for any knowledge.

Chuck Potvin set up race blowers and sold drive kits, I think your blower was set up by Potvin and that’s why it is stamped. It might have been sold originally with one of his front drive blower kits and later found its way to your 392.
