Finally buying some proper tires for my car ( 1953 Coronet ) and I'm not sure what to get. Originally it had 710-15s but every shoebox and Chevy on here has 670-15s. What do you think? I searched and couldn't find too many photos of the 710s.

I'm leaning that way; it's a lot to spend to not be sure!

6.70s are just a real common size from late 40s to mid 50s, short of wagons pretty much every low priced car used them. Ford and Chevy used them up through 56.

7.10s were used on bigger/medium priced cars such as Dodge, Mercury, etc.

I see no advantage in buying 6.70s, I'd go with 7.10s myself. But, before you do that, join the hamb alliance; you'll save more than the $50 you'll spend on the alliance via Coker AND, most importantly, you'll be helping the site.

Ok - thanks - that was the explanation I was looking for! And no worries, I've been an Alliance member before and intend to be again!

  6. Before you just start ordering new shoes........Things to at least concider-
Measured your current tires at all?,gear in the rear end?, Final drive ratio?,at what speed/rpm do you want down the freeway/interstate?
Car lowered, will a taller tire rub in the front or back?
Might wanna check some things out before you hear-Ya-get those=they're cool.
    Save yourself a headache.

I'm offshore at work, so the car isn't in front of me but -

Stock 3spd and stock rear end (373's I think ).

I've been running 215 75 radials on it with no issues.

Car handles the highway pretty well since I helped it breath a little better; rpms are acceptable at speed.

I may remove a coil in the front this summer, but other than that its pretty much as it left the factory. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1370827522.432412.jpg
Crappy cell phone pic, but it's recent.

  8. If you have "no issues",and things are "acceptable" then just measure your current tire's diameter, and shop from there. If you want to change things up a bit=highway rpm's,shift points at mph's,and the "look",then go for it.
Only recomendations.......Only suggesting a lil homework first. You wouldn't want to dump close to a G,and have it not work out,or be unhappy . Your car/your call/your vision.:)

7.10s are going to be much narrower than 215-75s, overall diameter should also be close. 205-75-15s were about the same OD as the 6.70s that replaced them on my 54 Ford.
