My 64 dodge has a factory amp meter. I think the stock alternator was like 36amps ?? I'm installing a 90 amp alternator.
How would I bypass the factory amp meter , since all of my power in the truck is run through the amp meter ?

I would like to convert that gauge to a voltmeter (if I could find one that looks stock in the gauge cluster). But until then, I'll have to use a under dash volt meter.

  2. If the ammeter has bolted connections for the wires, just connect them together. If you have an inductive type with no direct connection (the wire goes though a metal 'loop'), you can safely leave it connected.

Make sure it's not a shunt type ammeter, as those connect (and work) differently.
