My fatherinlaw just picked up a 64 Malibu ss at the Mecum auction in ky. While we found out this car was just thrown together for the auction we are happy to do all the detail work that was not done, missed or just done wrong. The problem I'm having now is it's not charging. They put a chrome 3 wire alternator on it and converted it to hei ignition. There is still a voltage regulator on the core support but I thought a 3 wire alternator had one built in . Is this likely my problem? Do I need a one wire alternator?
