Wally Bell /York S/S Nationals August 1965
( ex-Sox & Martin Comet)
Are those fenton hawk wheels on the front?
Cool pic. Looking at the mods to the side glasses I bet it had alot of windnoise.....but couldn't be heard over the 427!
It was "all business"......
A great Race Car.......
Bee on Video has great action footage of the '65 Super Stock Nationals....( The Comet)
Wally the Chevy saleman driving a Ford. Louis would be rolling in his grave.

Off to a good start
Heres a 65 b/fx I built a couple years ago............
My 64 comet ................
Here's my upcoming project. B/FX-ish, street-legal:
Love the 64/65 a/fx comets.Working on three right now.Prefer the 64 style with the tear drophood versus the ram air.heres some video links of my 64.Need to figure out if I'm gotng to letter it or not and if I do, like the ronnie sox style or my own design.Looking for imput would like to do something over winter.
Great car!! I think I would letter it with your own name and sponsor/dealership but use the same exact font that Ronnie and Buddy used. Make it so the words are not the same but it still looks the same if you know what I mean. Make people look twice to see if it was the same as original. I've been told the original car does exist. If it is ever restored it could cause some issues if your car is lettered as the original.
I talked to Dean Sox last year. He said he was possibly going to make a pass or two in your car. Did that ever happen? Barry R. built you a nice motor!!
That is a cool paint scheme. My dads old car ended up painted that way. The car got wrecked in the early 70s and alot of the parts ended up on the Cyclone I have now. I'm gonna paint my car like his car was originally.....a very lt blue with white and blue stripes on the roof.
As far as lettering it, I say go for it but do it in a way that looks period....but not like a mimic of the Ronnie Sox car.
Heres some pics of my latest project 1965 comet A/FX style. Just left for the paint shop, still deciding on color and style Any Ideas?
Thanks Still working out the bugs in it.I really like your idea of having it look the same but different.I'm a huge fan And I love the color scheme.I wanted to do a tribute car but I didnt want to come off as trying to be ronnie sox.I was suppose to go to henderson and meet dean and diane but was unable to go.Work has been tough and had to cut back.I'm trying to get ready for next year. I really want to get out to York 30/beaver springs and run with you guys.
One Of the first Mercury heros.Tom Strumn And his 1963 mercury marauder.
My vote for the 65 is red!
Nice comet mercuryjunky looks like you blasted the whole body ? Coming together really nice.
I doubt it. Louis Chevrolet was a purveyor of Ford racing parts.
And we try not to hold it against him.
Small but great pic
