Sad story, same happened to me when I borrowed my younger brother my 70 Mach 1, buried it under a mid-sixties Ram 3/4 ton. Told me "I shouldn't have let him use it." Good lesson learned while young.......Al

    Cool Comet Gasser also Recycler!!!!

Hi Roy, hope you are doing well.
It is a 363 cu in, Windsor dart SHP block, 12:1 compression, Brodex 17 degree heads, Comp .691/.692 solid roller right out of the catalog, Jessel sportsman shaft rocker system, edelbrock 302 victor intake, about a 975 CFM Holley carb, ran best at 36 degree timing.

The first dyno pull was 612 HP, a few jet, timing and carb spacer changes got us to 629, then adding a vacuum pump got us to 644. We had air conditions that I will not see on any drag strip this summer but I don't want to run any faster than 10.00.

I'm excited, anxious for racing to start.

Great Job Merritt!!! You may be surprised with it in your car your header primarys can't be that large, and may compliment that little monster . You should be excited for the season to begin. Hopefully you made a video and can post it.....Again Congratulations job well done!......Al

Thanks for the support guys. Forgot to add that, we made 1-7/8 headers. I tried to send pictures but they must be too big they won't load to the web site.

I've been having that problem and never had it before, I finally gave up. Out of curiosity what size were primary's on dyno? 1-7/8 sound right. Let us know on those ETs when you get to the track! .....Al

Al, we did use 1-7/8 headers on the dyno. Over 600 HP you can start to look at 2" headers.
I will keep the site informed.

Wow!, very cool! I have not seen that car in a very long time. The last time it was sitting in the grass behind Joel's shop in Kenosha WI. I have heard it looks amazing. Joel was a great guy and was helpful back in the 70's when I was building my Comet. ( the first time)
Hopefully I will make it to the Meltdown event.

I've had several '64s, in fact my first car was a white 64 Caliente hardtop with red bucket interior sold it in '72 for $35 DUH#1, then after a long time between comets I picked up a '64 Cyclone, Maroon w/tan sold that in '91 DUH #2, then another wimbleton w/red caliente (see avatar), trucked up to Maine from TX, nice car (vintage cragars, granada disks, 5.0 w T5, Southside machine lift bars, crites glass hood and front bumper). That one went to Ohio DUH #3.
    The Next one I'm KEEPIN'!
BTW! They're getting scarce AND expensive!
