Most guys run between 8-11lb. I've tried mine most everywhere in between

Looks like you've got the horsepower to run with the best of 'em.

I was thrown off because i decided i had time to look down at the tach and make sure i had the rpm right, as i had moved it lower to help leave with the new found extra hp, and my brain hasnt got the sound down pat. I didnt see him light the second bulb, and in the .2 seconds it took me to glance down, the tree activated and I learned my lesson!

It has to be tough....not like someone is just going to lay down for you.
You will be on your game next time.

Remember you were racing an old pro. It will become second nature and then you can put him on the trailer.

  13. Easy to be critical when watching a video, and I don't mean to be that way. I would say that's just not going to be enough RPM with a pro tree. You guys using 10.5 slicks? M/T stick shift stiff sidewall?

I used to leave at 8000 rpm, but with the junk suspension and what should be 800hp it hits the wheelie bar way too hard, I left at 7400 first round of qualifying at it got on the wheelie bars so hard it bent them. I also have a very old sintered iron clutch setup that ram wont put base springs in that are below 1700lb, so no hope of being able to slip the clutch out of the hole until i scrape up enough money to buy the newer style with the aluminum ring in the pressure plate. It has hoosier 10.5" slicks on the car, i would like to try a set of stiff sidewall mt tires, but yet again, thats $500 i really just dont have to play with. The car usaully has a 1.30 60' and i usually average a .05-.06 reaction time on the pro tree

The Skull Garage guys posted this footage up.

it looks like you were moving around so much in the lane that Quain went the 1/8 mile and you went 1/4 mile:)

  20. You definitely have to walk a fine line between hook and reaction time.
Don't go too soft and /or light with the clutch assy. Your r/t will suffer. Been there..done that.
The M/T's might be worth a bit of r/t. Like to hear Quain's opinion.
.050 lights are probably pretty decent for your class, I would think.

Ordered a new ram sintered iron clutch setup. When I pulled the transmission out the old pilot bushing fell out with it, went to install the new pilot and it was snug, ended up being too snug for the hole. Tried hydraulicing it out first but that failed. Ended up making a tool for my slide hammer that pulled it right out. Did a little measuring, then put a new pilot in the lathe and turned it down using Emory cloth until I had the diesired press fit. A ten minute project took all evening. I'll update later with the rest of my new clutch woes

I'm coming down from PA for SIM. Don't be giving me any excuses why the Falcon isn't running right. ;)

I can't wait to see it run in person!!!
First day off this year. What better reason than SEG?!

Ain't it amazing how hard it is to gain that little tiny bit extra in ET after you get so fast? The $$$ part is what hurts.

Guy I know dropped 25k in his car this past winter, went 1 tenth faster. To his benefit, that is "so far this season". Gabe, I don't care if it only idles. Just looking forward to coming and seeing the antics, I mean racing.

Yes, there's a threshold there that is very hard to cross, I've been right at it for a year, finally crossed it first round at Montgomery, now i just need a pinch more

Well, I can promise you will hear it at 8500rpm with the front tires hanging in the air unless i've vented the block before then!

Nothing real exciting to post pictures of over the last few days, just routine Maintaince and small fixes I've been putting off, but finally got around to doing. Checked/Adjusted the valves, as I do after most every race, checked over the fasteners on the car, just give it a general once over in an attempt to prevent failures at the track. Also added a turnbuckle on each side of the engine as there was a witness mark that is had been moving back a little with the thin motor plate and mid mount only having one bolt on each side attaching it to the chassis
