Ok so I am picking up my 63 Caddy next week and was wondering if I need to add lead additive to the gas in it. Ive never owned anything with and engine this old and I am just curious. It has 28,000 miles and is a 1 owner car so I would like to keep the engine running good the way that it is now. Is lead necessary or will it be fine with unleaded? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

I will need to run Premium for the high compression engine, and I would probably look at adding a lead additive...only 28,000 miles? wow...must be cherry!

  3. Most sources these days state that there will be no discernible damage from using unleaded.
I certainly have had no damage to anything I've owned.
Worst problem you have is the need for octane. Well, that, and the funds to PAY for the fuel.
12 mpg = 35 cents per mile of travel (at THIS week's Chicago prices - $4.09/gal), just to be depressing....
