62 stewart warner tacho question?

I have just got a stewart warner tacho I have done some research and have found it to be made between 62 and 64 I brought the sender unit for the tacho .Here is the question I have been told it will work with electronic ignition and have been told it will not work has anyone done this before ?

I have a stewart warner hooked up to my 409 with a hei. Works great.

 

Is it a old Stewart Warner or a new one ?
