Customs 62 Skylark "Bad Bob's New Wheels!"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bad Bob, Mar 2, 2013.

  1. Recently aquired this little putter in a trade. Don't plan on keeping it,so I thought I would give it a few improvements to make it a little more appealing...

Here's the way it looked when I got it...

I actually thought those grille bullets looked good. However, I also like it without them too.

    sawzall those bellflowers off

  13. It has the 4 on 4 1/2 lugs,so I'm having The Wheelsmith in Corona make me some 14x6 chromies. It also came with 13" wheels,so the tire options were crap! I bought some 175-80-14's with 1" ww from Performance Tire in Long Beach. The wheels won't be ready for two weeks.
    It also has 24" Bellflowers,which are too long,IMO...so I bought some 18" Bellflowers,which I didn't know existed!

It runs and drives great! Plan on fixing a few more things before putting it in the classifieds and Craigslist. In the meantime,i'll drive it around.

Great little car Bob but that paint job needs a volume control.

  17. that thing is badass! i love it.
did need some changes though. i like the paint job, even as loud as it is.

  18. Dude, you need some fertilizer on that lawn......

  19. It's pretty "busy",haha. I would have painted it all the same color...orange,and the interior, all white. Or even white with orange scallops.

  20. haha...i'll pass that on to the Gardener/wife...

Bob you're brave! Deep sixing that steering wheel, etc. really helped, but that GREEN all has to go. It makes the car look like a Fisher Price toy. Was the painter color blind?

It would be a lot of work, but reshooting all the green in something that goes better with the orange and gold like root beer candy or flake would salvage it. That would get rid of that maltese cross billboard on the roof too.

  26. I agree...if I planned on keeping it,the green would go. Right now,i'm just concerned with the green dash panel.

    Way Too Dull for me.
I prefer to drive something that stands out and really grabs attention. ;)

Awwwwww, I'd a left the Maltese Cross mirror...! I gotta agree though, chromies and thin white walls will tone this puppy down quite a bit. Funny thing, this is the third Skylark/Tempest/F85 thingie a friend has scored this week. That and Corvairs lately - JOHN EVANS from here on the board has recently lost his mind and found himself buying every one of them he sees.
