62 chevy truck question

Will a sbc bolt up to the 3 speed trans behind my 235 six?

 

You'll have to have a V8 bell housing. The trans bolt pattern should be the same.

 

Make sure the v8 bellhousing is from 1960-62. It has the slave cylinders you will need to work in your '62. I ended up using all the parts from a '63, and converted it to manual linkage because I couldn't find the correct bellhousing.

My '63 PU had a hydraulic clutch.

At one time, I had a '62 Suburban and a'62 PU but don't remember if the clutch was hydraulic or linkage. I do remember the '62's had torsion bars in the front and not coil springs like the '63 had.
