  1. IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE! My (almost) favorite-gotta go with the vintage tropy girls-thread. I know,I know;a blatant, totally shameless bump. Well worth it.

    max wedge kid,
I'd love to hear how you acquired your '64 max wedge. How long have you owned it, & who owned it before you, etc. What an awesome car!! Thanks for sharing it with us.

i got this car because i am the luckist son of a bitch on the planet!
i strolled upon this car just left for dead in a guys driveway, after about 3 to 4 years of wishing, i befriend the owner who had no intention of ever selling it, he was very ill and one day he finally said YES!
Everyone else that tried to buy the car off of the owner said they wanted to trick it out or restore it to stock, when he found out i planed on leaving it as is i was his first choice!
like i said i'm the luckist guy on earth!

This car was ordered form Mr. Norm's Grand Spalding Dodge by a young man named Ben Small, he had had planed to use it as a street racer only, the car was always garage kept, that young racer wad a tow truck driver, he would hook it up behind his tow truck ant tow it to the street races to make it look like it was a bronken down granny's car. the car was ordered with a padded dash and whitewall tires to add to the sleeper look, in about 1968 or 69 the 1st owner blew the motor, was drafted to the vitenam war and left it for dead in his mom's garage. I got this info thanks to a couple of morpar nuts on the web and from the 2nd owner.

The second owner grew up down the street for the "Ben" and always loved the car, when Ben returned from war in 1972 the 2nd owner bought the car with a blown motor and only 1400 miles on it, he brought it out to california in the mid 70's and street raced it himself... the car has never been hit, ever had any body work done to it and still wares it's original paint! besides the tires the car is in raced condention, my plans are to redo the interior and leave the rest alone... !

check out this photo i took when i first spotted the car just sitting there,
    WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?

The motor was made to be more streetable with a 4bbl and stock 440 exhaust manifolds. i have gathered up everythiing i need to return it to it's max wedge form, including the cross ram, super stock exhaust manifolds and 3" exhaust with dumps, this weekend i'm doing a tare down to repaint the block and install the new (used) top end and i'll post photos of the motor once i'm done..

my brother-in-law and i used to own this car. looks like the pic was taken at the brainerd optimist club dragstrip. i guess it was the luck of the draw there were a lot of better looking cars than ours in the chattanooga area. i have looked at every pic in the thread and not one of the other cars that we knew and ran against are there. really wish we had taken more pics. dang what few we had are long gone.
