Cool car! In terrific condition. Love the color.

I believe the "Slim Jim" transmissions used a fluid coupling which is not a torque converter.

beautiful car. that was a very good era for gm, stylewise. do your research on the slimjim trans; they have a troubled past...

  5. Would someone be able to advise where I can buy a seat back attaching bolt? The passenger side bolt is snapped off.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Don,
Thanks for the great deal on the hubcaps. Made it back north yesterday so had to see what they looked like on the car. They’re a couple years too late for the car, but they look great.

  7. Sorted through the loose parts in the trunk. A bunch of spare parts...... and some parts I thought were missing.

Was really happy to see the condition of the trunk. It’s rock solid. Someone sprayed a thin coat of black over the factory trunk paint. I may try to clean it off.

I thought that seat back had a pin there with a clip, that may be a pin sheared off and not a bolt. Not sure but I've had a lot of that era GM seat apart and never encountered one with a bolt in that position.

  9. I’ll check that. Thanks!

  11. I had a 62 Starfire ragtop and a 64 Dynamic 88. The 64 was a nice car.

  12. Found these when I sorted through the parts in the trunk. Might as well get them out of my way.

A stainless bar would look sweet in place of the broken bits on the grill . Nice car!

  14. My Starfire was an electrical nightmare and everything it seemed to work on vacuum including the vent windows IIRC.

I wonder if they have another use besides making the interior look better.. I was always into the Pontiacs when these cars were popular. I never knew the Olds was built so well.

I knew a guy whos family gave him a 62 Starfire convertible. It sm0ked like crazy so he junked it. I often wonder if transmission fluid was being sucked into the engine somewhere or the PVC valve was open and sucking oil..

  22. Need to order a new master cylinder today. The one on the car was seized....... even needed an impact to get the cap off of it.

If your going to use the single master, make sure the emergency brake works well. You can get them to work pretty good if you make sure all the joints are well lubed and the cable is adjusted for best performance. The rear brakes should start to apply once the pedal is pushed in 2". I make applying the emergency brake and stopping on it, part of my routine maintance..

  24. Absolutely!!!

Right now I’m leaning towards replacing the single pot with a new single pot, making sure the emergency brake functions and inspect all components.
Out of curiosity, if I went to a dual reservoir, would I be able to use the stock brake booster? Any suggestions on a kit or the master cylinder to buy? With drums all around, I would not need a proportioning valve, just fittings to isolate the front and rear lines?

    Thanks in advance.
