This is the most entertaining post ever!!! That video of the '76 "truck in" was the best. I am still chuckling over that. It must have been a rule when you drove in that no man could wear a shirt, and had to make his jeans into cut offs. I want to know if you can still get "carnival grade commercial carpet" like the dude said he had in "Rumpelstilskin". Loose open ended relaxation....that's what Vannin is all about. OH YEAH!!!

  2. that looks to be barnett's old van!? man, it's a long way from Texas now!

I don't know much about the gm vans, but I've seen a lot of v 8 conversions and they all came with a in line 6 so people are doing mods to them. being that they are unibody, changing things or upgrading can be a little tricky. There's a extensive thread on lowering econolines and what a pain they are...

The 64-66 Chevy vans never had v8 engines. The 2nd gen Chevy vans from 67-70 had the v8 as an option. The suspensions on all these early vans don't really interchange with any other GM vehicles. Lug bolt pattern on the 1/2 tons was 5 x 4 3/4,so you can use alot of different GM wheels.
Some of the interior parts can be swapped from Corvairs,Chevy Novas, etc.

I could have sworn I posted on this thread with the Econoline. Oh well, here it is again. Soon to have overhead console, cb 102" whip antenna, flares and spoiler, as well as lettering and airbrushed panels.

I have a 1966 VW 21 window that's finished. I'm just starting to work on a 1964 VW micro. FUN and cheap to work on.

here's my 67 panel van. I know its off topic, but I'm going to add "SPEED SHOP" under the monkey ward part and build the van into an early style push vehicle-support .

  13. I had a 68 Dodge Van with a 318. Mine had side barn doors on each side as well as the back barn doors. Never saw another like it. Sold about 1976 in Tacoma, Wash. It was great for camping and tail gate parties. Wouldn't mind having it back.

I have always liked the old vans. I have owned 8 that were custom but this was my favorite. I sold it 2 years ago because it only had two seats and I just had my first kid. My wife never rode in it and I was really accused of trying to kidnap someone with it even though I didn't own it when that supposedly happened. Try sorting that one out with the cops. After that, My wife told me to get any other old vehicle but not another van.

Absolutely my favorite of the vans. I had a 73 and loved it.
The color on yours suits it awesome...

Just what color IS that anyway??? Do you have a code for it?
That Blue would look great on a 4x4 truck I'm building.

I actually just got a pint the other day. I was told it was a Honda color so that's what they matched. Shoot me a pm and I'll find out.

If you ever rode in a old van etc, with bad or no back door seals, you would know that I was joking and what I was joking about.

Most definitely the next Big thing in my opinion.Theres a magazine in the UK I was looking at that featured tons of Old and New Custom Vans done 70's style..
I used to love my Parents friends 60's Chevy Van named "The Padded Cell" when I was a kid.Complete with 8 Track, CB Radio, Freak Drop and Lace Paint job and of course Wall to Wall carpet!
