I just picked up a rusty 65 burb. I'm wondering if anyone know where I can get the sliding side rear windows. Any know. Was it an after market part or only on deluxe models? [IMG]

  2. BigFive.I cant answer your question but I had one back in the 70s It was stolen out in front of a friends house.Guy was drunk .He hit a phone pole ran across 2 yards with it and then plowed in to 2 cars with it. I got the truck back and all I had to do is replace the front bumper and the radiator. They really built them good and strong back then. Bruce.

I had a 66 that came with factory ac, and only two rows of seats. It had sliders in the middle, and fixed windows at the rear side locations. I kind of liked it that way.. I also noticed that some of them had sliders at all 4 locations.

when it was time to build my 57, the slider frames were kind of rusty. I thought about it and decided I didn't need sliders at all, so I got some of the weatherstrip used on the non sliding 66, and put fixed glass in all 4 positions. Works fine.

but if you don't have AC, and you live where it's warm, and you will have folks riding in back, you probably want sliders.

If what you are asking for is the glass, that can be made up at a glass shop using automotive safty glass. If you mean the slides and associated parts, I think you would have to ask the Chevy/GMC truck guys that. I like the truck, I'm a suburban/panel guy myself.

Its flat glass. Talk to an automotive glazier.
A real one, not the ones with the E-3 replacing windshields.

My 66 has OEM four window sliders.
The glass is the easy part, the not so easy part is finding the frames, mine were a little rusty as is common but I found some (many years ago) and used the donor pieces to weld in which is a bit tricky as they are pretty thin material.
The rubber pieces were not being reproduced when I put this truck on the back burner so not sure what is being reproduced now.

A good website for info and parts sources is the 67-72 Chevy truck website, they also cover the 60-66 models.

  9. X2 with what has already been said, and get on 67-72chevytrucks like DDDenny suggested.
Put a wanted add in the 60-66 for sale/wanted section and I'm sure you'll hear from someone who has the sliders and frame- just be prepared to pay for them... not quite unobtainium, but those parts are desired and hard to find.
