Projects 60's Roof on a 50's Kustom?

i think it works because the donor roof was shortened to fit the 'bird proportionally. i remember a custom maybe 20 years back using the next-gen t-bird and the whole starliner roof. to me it didn't work because the c-pillars wound up about in the middle of the trunk.

What a great post, love roof swaps... This could be the baddest '57 Chevy that I've ever seen.

 

I think what really defines that awesome 57 is using the stock A pillar and windshield.

 

The squarebird looks like it has a '56 Ford hardtop roof, not a Starliner. I've seen the 'bulletbird' with the Starliner top, it doesn't quite work. I've always thought a bulletbird would look good with a '68-69 Torino fastback top (extending the top slope to the end of the trunk lid) or maybe a '71-73 Buick Riv top (the 'boattail' model).

 

I think you may be right about the hardtop roof.

As for the bulletbird with a fastback roof, the Italians beat you to the punch

 

That wasn't the Italians, that's the 'Italien' built by Dearborn Steel Tubing off a Ford design. I like this car, but the top needs about a 2-3" chop and the 'fastback' needs to extend more to the rear.
