I've replaced my ignition switch on my 62 Galaxie and lined up the bezel as it was but I can't get the lock cylinder to stay in.WHATS THE TRICK?Doi need the paperclip to install the LC?THANKS
Shouldn't need the paperclip. I did it a few times in my f100, sometimes itd pop right in, others it took a few tries. Swear at it a few times, give it an hour or two then try again
Did you try installing it with the key in the lock cylinder? There is some simple little trick to it but it's been close to 40 years since I did one.
Are you sure the lugs on the switch are completely seated in the bezel? I had the same problem with my 63 Falcon replacement switch and discovered the OD of the switch was slightly bigger than the ID of the bezel. A little work with emery cloth did the trick. Ignore the Deutsch connector....
IIRC, the key has to be in the tumbler and the switch turned to 'accessory'. Insert the tumbler, then turn it to 'on'. Turn it back to 'off' and it's good to go.
