Your little guy probably told all his buddies he got to run the controls loading your car. Great memory for him and a nice tow operator to let him help. :)

Tow operator rules. All the times, I've wanted to do the same, fulfilled by your kiddo. Stellar sh#t man.

I appreciate folks that like kids and want them to be a part of things. He's a really good kid, they both are. They're both pretty humble, too.

Thanks, that's a nice compliment. I can't wait to drive it like a real hot rod.

Heading to Illinois for the next phase: The Chassis - Becoming a Roller

It was a whole day affair getting everything loaded into the truck and trailer. It was a little over 100* but 1,400 miles east, at Ryan's it was 100+ and crazy humid. 100*+ summer days out here are pretty normal but not with that type of humidity!

After grabbing the coupe, I dropped the trailer at home and grabbed my 327.

    Picking up the 327.jpg

    Then it was everything else.

Fast forward 1,400 miles and two hours of sleep!

Which one would you take, 55, A Roadster, or the Coupe?

    20190719_185548.jpg

A couple other vehicles were missing, the Freakin' A and Ryan's Henry J. They were out at Byron Dragway.

Eventually, I dragged my sorry, exhausted self over to the track and met up with @UNSHINED 2 and his pal. I did get to check out the Freakin' A for a moment.

This caught my eye, too. If I wasn't building the A, I'd own a 55.

I think this car is pretty perfect.

Any car I see that's a 60's gold(ish), I have to check out. My car very well may end up Granada Gold or Firemist Gold...

I used to! Now, not so sure.

Really though, I want the car to be built with help from like-minded people. Not only do they get it, this stuff in their wheelhouse. I won't mind all the miles when the car is done.

Paint is going to be simple, single stage. I know that, for sure. I just don't know the color. I'm stuck. However, black with gold does sound pretty neat. I can't picture this coupe sitting in the gym/store/kid's school parking lot with laced fenders. I'm thinking a little chrome on the exterior, some side pipes, a rowdy stance, and a metallic 1960s paint color.

In my mind, keeping the paint simple helps keep the car in balance. And, I'm just not a fancy paint guy. I love fancy paint but I want to thrash around in this car... I've owned a couple vehicles where I was worried about paint. That zapped some of the fun, for me.

I hear you. I've had a couple of cars with really nice paint. No fun. But, when it's someone else's to worry about, I LOVE fancy paint :D

    Frame Modification Begins!

Because the frame is going to get boxed, there will be inserts set into the frame. Here are some of the body-mount inserts and a pic of the running board inserts.

    Thank you, Mike!

I do! Haha, We're up-to-date, now. This has been the work since spring.

In real life, though, I am one of those kooky, health-nut eaters and sleep... since I I realized that life with sight could be less than I'd want, I do a lot more and sleep a bit less. Haha.

How about single stage gold body and fenders with black scallops? Easier to do, way sinister and race looking.

    Model A Frame Teaser Pics

Here are a couple teaser pics.

The 3/16" boxing plates are inset. The plates will kick in, leaving space for the F1 steering box. It will be reinforced on the outside of the frame. That beefy 4-hole mount for the F1 box comes from @NealinCA

Boxing plate tacked in. The tubing sitting beside the rail is truss tube that will run under the frame rails on either side.

    More pics later this week.

    I hope everyone is well.

Let me tell you, I cannot wait to have this chassis done. We have some slick ideas planned for it.

WOW! What a great build, don't know how I missed all of this. I always enjoy watching stuff with clean blasted stuff and flawless TIG welding. Bob

Curious how this chassis comes together after seeing your inspirations.

    Good stuff

  23. I saw your car at Ryan's shop and yes he gets it as well as myself!!! That's why I brought my Roadster there!

It's looking awesome and it's in great hands and Ryan certainly has the vision for a 60's build!

Halibrand Magnesium Wheels and Radir Slicks

I've had these Halibrands for a few years. I got them off of a HAMBer in BC. I kept them coated in Gibb's and in boxes. I only appreciated them through a few pics on my laptop.

They haven't had tires on them in decades. That is, until today!

Thanks, man. I've collected too much stuff! Haha. In order to get the car how I want it, I've had to sell off some things. I've hung onto other stuff that's not for this car and I'm likely going to sell most of that off, too.

I know this is sacrilege but I'm at this point where I just don't need it all. I want to go 100% in on this car not 30% there, 60% here and 10% spread across 5 other things.
