Bought a 330 Desoto a few weeks ago. Might use it instead of the BBC. I've wanted one for awhile. Just wish i'd waited on the headers.

Save it for the next 32. Rodney's got to have an extra one laying around, right?

He's got 7 '32s now but no extra. I'd just like to finish 1.

Any news on the engine decision? I love the BB Chevy, and all the great work you did on the fuel inj intake, and headers!! But I'm a BB Chevelle guy a little biased!! Its kind of strange to think in this application the BBC is actually kind of less common and unique? And as a fabricator I would HATE to see those beautiful headers you made go to waste!!

So I just binged on this build after finding it and all Ihave to say is:.......WOW!

It's a good thing tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and I won't be in the shop making my feeble attempts at fabrication. I think I should just go out there and have a sale on everything and take up another hobby, like stamp collecting or butterfly catching.

Your work is so amazing. And welding on magnezium...

    Thanks for the nice comments.
Still not sure about the engine but did buy another 330 DeSoto and extra valve covers, Weiand front cover, finned valley cover and Isky D888 cam from same guy as first one. I’ve also got a reman 4-71 I bought several years ago so that will go on the hemi if it’s used. C3133994-FC6A-41B1-83B1-253B35A3C506.jpeg

I have decided to stay with the BBC. I had to stop working on it to take care of some other stuff. Hope to be back on it this fall.

This is a great build I see a major problem it is your Luckey 7 Axle they are low quality cast iron. Pleas check the out the Hoffman group hear on the Ham!

I am familiar with the quality of the Hoffman group. Thanks for catching my mistake. It is actually an old forged steel Lucky 13 axle not made anymore. I put the holes in it. Definitely not cast iron..

I haven't read the whole thing-but started at page 6 with the steering box and the work and talent put into it blows me away.

I concur, it's like a good book you can't put down, and the tech photos are great too.

MOPAR BOX DIMS.png ARM DIMS.png I've had some questions about my steering function and dimensions on another thread. and thought I would post my reply here in case anyone else wanted the information:

The nice thing about the 24:1 ratio is it allows you to use a longer pitman so the rod stays low with the box high enough to be out of the way of your feet. It turns easy reaching in one handed. 3-1/4 turns from stop to stop. Bump steer is .35" of movement at spindle arm with 2" of suspension movement which equates to 3 deg. of wheel movement. With a 24:1 box the feedback to the steering wheel should be 1/3 of a Schroeder 8:1 box. This was modeled in CAD so I knew what I was going to end up with. Geometry is not as good as Vega or 4 bar/Mustang and has not been road tested so don't copy it and think your in good shape. I'm willing to take the chance since it's what I want.
