I'm battling a cold and a small case of writer's block. To lift my spirits, I picked up a copy of Car Toons and found one of my favorite clips. It's the story of Rumpville - the island inhabited by hot rodders taking asylum from an unappreciative cou...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
And we must return because the kids of America needus to teach them hot rodding.....Man,I love happy endings.Tell us another story.
"Leave us not go ape. Leave us maintain order and sanity, cats." Great advice for interacting on Internet car forums!
That is a natural origin myth for the HAMB, I think, and easily the best thing HR Cartoons ever did... HAMB's own utopian community vision! Catalina is out of $ight now, I fear, but maybe if we all chipped in $5 we could afford some Dakota or maybe Guatemala??
That's a great strip... Seems like they printed it several times over the years... as it well deserved! I've been collecting CARtoons for quite some time (focused mainly on 1975 til it's demise)... got a decent collection... also been scanning the covers and anything else that floats my boat and postin em on a facebook page... There's also a great "CARtoons" thread here on the HAMB...
This is awesome to see some other Toons fans out there. Rumpville was first featured in the very first issue of Cartoons in 1959. I break out my copy now and then when I need a chuckle. RIP Pete
CarToons was my first car mag subscription. I learned how to draw from that mag. I recently hadthe revelation that the "How to Draw" section spawned my interest in tech articles. I am freelance journalist now, I specialize in how-to tech.
I thought that was pretty much, undeniably, Pete Millar. I thought it was Medley who came up the the cutesy RnC, Arin Cee? Guess not? Thanks 50Suburban!
I loved Pete Millar..anything he did was hilariously funny... and a good personal friend......RIP Pete
We don't have to buy a state, just move in enough folks to have 51% of the vote or greater. It should be a place where the roads are good, they have their own oil so we don't have to use ethanol, and there's lots of space. I vote for New Mexico: the Dakotas get too much Canada-like snow. Once we get our own governor, legislature, and judges we'll be set. Get the parts suppliers to relocate there for a good tax base. Other states will wish they were us.

Thanks, Ryan ! Had never seen this before. Plus, having lived in CA. at one time it strikes closer to home. Jonnie
