Well, we finally lit the fire in this beast. Eventually I'll put a proper thread together for the build but I wanted to get a video posted for prosperities sake. This is my Father-in-Laws 1930 Chevy coupe with a stroked 'n poked flathead. He's the one hamming for the camera (I'm the fat one). It was all we could do to keep from throwing it in reverse and tearing out of the driveway. Not quite there yet, but soon. This was the second start yesterday. I popped the dump tube caps and man, it sounds sweet. Very responsive throttle. Motor details at a later date.
Sounds great! Smiles all around. Yeah, I was a little concerned as well when I saw the temp creeping up.
Thanks guys! Yeah, 104 degrees yesterday plus the fact we were sitting still in the garage plus the fact it's a flathead equals high temps.
Like I said, I’ll put together a build thread soon. All the gory details too. Still need to finish a few details then get the fenders on it and raise hell. Been a long time coming. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
OK, finally got the first start uploaded to the YouTube. Slow assed internet service. Please ignore the fact that I almost ran over our friend (who's also the builder of the motor). Could have sworn I took it out of gear.
You know, you'd think there would be room to spare but I had to make an offset breather stand to get it to clear the firewall. Even at that, it barely clears. Granted, I filled the firewall so it's flat but it's still tighter than I would have originally guessed.
