In my ‘31 I’m going to use the 6 volt, 4 cylinder set up for the rest of the summer/fall only. In the spring, I’m going to be putting in a 12 volt 8 cylinder. I need a battery for both but hate to buy the 6 volt battery for only 2 month use. Would it be too much to put on an alternator, modern points, and new battery for the 12 volt to run the old engine?

One solution would be to use a small 6 volt Optima battery for now, and when you convert to 12 volt, buy another 6 volt battery and run them in series for 12 volts.
