Technical 59ab cam and exhaust manifold

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by HaroldDegand, Nov 29, 2020.

  1. Hi,
I’m looking for a cam to convert a french flat to a 59 ab style.
I’m running stock valves and springs, stock 59a intake and single carb.
Don’t want to make a race car.
What’s the best candidate ? Even a stock one if somebody have it for sale.

Also, I’ll put exhaust manifold instead of headers.
I need to change the left hand one to clear the steering box.
I have a stock 1932 Ford chassis, highboy steel roadster.

    Thanks.

I haven't physically worked on a flathead in over 50 years and have seen the French version only in pics.
But at least I can bump your post back to the top:)

the 49 to 53 merc is the best "stock" cam, but you still have to cut the gear off as i showed in the other post. easiest exhaust is the 32-36 style with the outlet at the front. lots of clearance for steering

Check your PM. If you feel it’s worth the cost of postage I’ll send them out to you
