Technical 59-66(?) 283 fuel pump part number?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alteredpilot, Jul 28, 2021.

  1. I have a late model SBC in a 56 Chevy with the front motor mounts. whoever built the car installed a fuel pump that as I can ascertain came off a 283. The inlet side is towards the rear when installed and the outlet towards the front. This particular pump did not come with cast in fittings, just two female bosses where you could install the appropriate pipe fittings.

Cant seem to find a pump.

Any help with a part number?

  3. Probably should have remembered to add photos...
In the top photo the inlet is on the left.

get one with the screws then you can clock it as you need--Summit had them as Carter as I recall--other places too
Jim showed one that works and is clockable

There are several early SBC design's. That one reminds me of a 59? Have you put that one in just to see if the fittings will clear the cross member?

  8. Thanks Guys. I wound up putting in a Holley pump. I was trying to avoid dropping a hundo on the pump, but i had to get it back on the road...
