Customs 58 chevy 3/4 ton axle

    Hi im from the uk and have a 58 3600 apache truck.i have read so many posts but still confused.i want to swap the 8 lug to 5 lug.do the 1/2 ton front axle assembly bolt straight into a 3/4 ton frame or has anyone machined out the 1/2 ton spindles to accept 3/4 ton king pins.thx nick

    It looks to me like the 1/2 ton axle will bolt to the 3/4 ton springs. Might need to enlarge the U bolt holes a little, if you use the 3/4 ton U bolts. You will need all the steering linkage from the 1/2 ton, although the steering gearbox itself is the same. This picture shows a 3/4 ton axle next to two 1/2 ton axles.

    They are all supposed to be straight
