1958,59,60 American cars were the biggest, gaudiest, chromed up, three-tone road rockets this planet had ever seen or will see..Automotive design peaked there and we certainly will never go back or repeat..a 58 Oldsmobile 98? must have 250 lbs. of chrome on it..the classic points on a 59 Caddie, the style of a 59 Impala and the lines of a 60 Starliner or Edsel..just gets me goin every time..My wife and I drive 59 Edsel 2DHT, 59 Bonneville Safari wagon and a 59 Nash Metro..soon as someone smarter than me teaches me how to post pics, lets see your rides!

  2. I'm always amazed when I think of the amount of tooling required for the different body styles during these years. So many parts!

I think every brand peaked in '57. :D

Except GM cars, they had a swan song in '59.

Anyone familiar with a 58 Packard Hawk? Packard and Studebaker were both having hard times..this car is such a mongrel and so ugly, you just have to stare at it for awhile, like a big catfish swimmin down the road..definately a peak and supernova..anybody have a picture?

Here's a pic of my '60 Fury still in mid-conversion into a two door.

For those who are wondering why I haven't finished this yet, I bought another parts car with better two door sedan doors on it and I'm waiting until I pick up that car before finishing my conversion. I may just do one side for a summer and have a 3 door, we'll see if anyone notices.

There's a whole story on this car in my sig. line if anyone's interested.
