My favorite '57 Ford is this beauty, painted by the late great Larry Watson... More Watson '57 Fords here, on Rikster's Custom Car Chronicle... http://www.customcarchronicle.com/cc-builders/larry-watson-c-painter/larry-watson-57-fords/
I've always liked the Nunez '57 Fairlane - there are also some good photos of it in Andy Southard's Custom Cars of the 1950s book.
Having owned thirty six 57 Chevy's, I am a big fan of the years offerings. My Dad had a 57 custom 300 he bought at a car show that was a stunning mild custom and have had a love of the 57 Ford every since. I think the Chevy V/8 took me to the Chevy preference but the Fords are so stunning as well. This blue beauty shown in the J. J. opening page is sweet indeed. I thank froghawk for showing the great Larry Watson projects also, I met Watson at The Barris body shop in 1960 and have been a fan of all his work since. The 57 era was iconic, even the MoPar offerings are some of my faves. Long live the 57 iron!!
I like 'em both. Have a question if anyone knows..., on Nunez' car the knockoffs adapted to the '57 Ford hub caps..., anyone know what their from? Vette? British car? I do like the looks of the combo. Thanks! -Dave
No dragstrip in my town anymore, so Nunez' car it is. Good lookin cruiser, also a big fan of the 'custom by paint'.
Back in 1967, my brother and his best friend both had 57s. My brother had the Chevy and his friend, the Ford and both were nice looking cars, with no custom touches other than being lowered and having chrome reverse rims, and the typical Superior black steering wheel. It was always cool to see both cars parked in front of our house, along with my other brother's car, a 56 Corvette. Damn, new cars are so boring.
