So heres the deal. I picked up a 56 chevy 150 for a good deal last winter. Im into kustoms so I was gonna make it a mild kustom and keep the 235 in it. I picked up 7 desoto grille teeth for it and some 56 packard taillights and was going to do the usual custom stuff. Well here is my delima. The 235 was a dog so I im putting the cookie cutter 350/350 combo in it. Now that I have the car all stripped down nose sitting high(no motor) I am kinda of thinking with going the mild gasser look. I dont have the bankroll to straight axle it. But I can raise the front end a little maybe some fenderwall header a decent street strip cam etc... I just cant decide which way to go. If I went mild gasser I would ditch the packard taillights but I would still like to use the desoto grille teeth. I love the way it looks on the roadracers/planet terror car. I know its my car and I should build it how I ant but I need some opinions here.

As much as i like both style's, how about something different?
Maybe a sleeper, like they were back in the day....
ya know, simple paint, slight stance with blackwall's and dog dish caps.....Especially being a 150...Very unassuming.
But with some heat under the hood to surprise the faux gasser's out there now ways :D
    Just a thought :)

If that's nothing but wrong for you, i'd lean towards a custom.

  12. Gasser! They all didn't have straight axles. Just lose the front bumper, skinnies up front, pie crust slicks out back, white fenderwell headers and mebe some lettering.

What about something else? As in a Jr. Stocker from the mid 60's.

I saw this 56 on the friday art show. I hope the photographer does not mind me posting it. This is one of the nicest looking 56's out there.

I always liked the look of this car. Im definately doing the desoto grille. Im just not sure about the paint. I am definately going with a suede paint maybe a burgundy or metallic purple. I still havent decided against the flat black. I know it has been done to death but I still think it looks good on 56s'. Dont worry there wont be red wheels.

I kinda like that idea, and I was thinking that one day I may have to build a copy of the Fireball Roberts M-1 Fish Carb car...

P.S. Yes I know it's already been done but hell I like the idea...
