Hello. Trying to get behind the speedo housing to hook up a new speedo cable on a 55 olds, any tricks to removing besides busting knuckles trying to get behind it??
you should just be able to reach behind it and undo, but you do want someone with smaller hands if you can. I got mine undone easy enough, it wasn't a 5 hour job or anything. the other option would be to pull your cluster forward to give you some more room, but that also involves undoing the nuts that hold the cluster in, which isn't easy.
Pulled dozens of those. The speedo was the easiest part.Installed a few as well.Lay flat on your back on the trans tunnel or with your back in the footwell and your butt on the trans tunnel.Reach up and uninstall/install the speedo cable.Be sure and have indirect lighting set up to see what your doing and eye protection in case dust or crud falls.
