Bought this gem a year or so ago and have been dumping cash in it ever since! Was told it was called "The Great Pumpkin" back in the day but I have no proof. If anyone has past photo's of this car or info (good or bad) - anything would be much appreciated! The body has been disassembled and sent to my genius metal guy "Mike" for some much needed repairs - look for pics soon - Mike leaves no visible welds!!!. Mike's work is so good I will be recommending him once he's done with my project. So far it needed a whole new floor, both innner and outer quarters, trunk etc. etc. The original frame was beyond my skill level and was sold and I found a great california frame that was sandblasted and please don't be mad at me purists, but it was cut and a new front clip from "Nickey Chicago" was grafted to the frame by a friend... it looks great!!! We have the engine/tranny setup mocked up for now as I will soon be removing everything and painting the frame semi-gloss black. It has real magnesium Halibrands and firestones on the '57-64 posi rearend and I am searching for halibrand front runners. Should have the body on it by February. Mitch

Is it an altered wheelbase? Ie. is the front axel set forward? From the looks of it the rear is in stock position. Looks like a clean build, keep it up!

Hey Mitch look's like you got a good start love them gassers Iam doing a 56 it's about to come apart for paint..Good luck..

  11. Hardtop gasser, I like! I hope the scoop and bowtie emblem get lost during the build. So many "street rodded" cars that are "breaking out in bowties" ruined them for me.
LarsBahrs - congrats on the driving test! Rip it up!

the car has been totally sandblasted - I am currently beating my head against the wall trying to decide which color to paint it. That is why I asked if anyopne had early pics of this. If it indeed does have a history then I'll repaint it the same color.

So we are clear - The badge was on the car when I bought it. I sold the front glass cuz it was too far gone. It will have a tasteful glass frontend with a nice cutout for the blower when I am done. What do think about shiny black paint for the exterior?

Thanks for getting the picture out. Someday I'll figure how to do that.. I am not computer savvy. The headers you see were made by Jere Stahl back in November of 1968 and were verified by Mr. Stahl! The welds were done with gas but they look like modern tig welding - Stahl is an awesome welder. Also have an original B&M 60 shifter for this that I bought still in the box... brand new - can't wait to get the body done so I can hook up all the goodies and hear this baby rumble!!!

Looks either 69 Camaro or 69 full size. Are they the same?

Nice NIKEY front end! Those are pricey! I think shiny black sounds great, nothing like a black 55 .

  26. nice lookin' build so far... goodluck with the rest

  27. Noce car and cool build. And to the guy asking about the badge on the front it is indeed a '69 Camaro badge. Standard Camaro at that no RS no SS no BS.
