You may want to get ahold of the reproduction of the '55 Ford Electrical Assembly Manual repop'ed by Jim Osborn Reproductions. It has a wealth of info including pictorial diagrams of how everything goes together along with schematics for accessories. Worth its weight in gold for a person who's not electrically-inclined like me and likes to look at drawings. Power door locks weren't an option in '55, though, so it might be that you may be dealing with a system adapted from another car or the aftermarket.
Get the wiring book mentioned above. I have one for the 56 and it is a wealth of information that you will often go to for other questions. The book has drawings of every screw and clip for the A/C system.
