Hi, any ideas on how to use an add on chevy oil filter to a 55 chevy 265 engine with a c4b edelbrock with oil fill tube, and 57 corvette unvented valve covers. Where can I return the oil back to the engine after goiing thru the filter? The 55 cast iron manifold had a hole in the intake for this. Any suggestions? Thanks
  2. I would add a fitting to the oil fill tube to connect the return line from the filter. This will dump the oil into the valley. Probably best to weld on a fitting low on the fill tube.

You might be able to drill and tap the flat plate that the fuel pump bolts to. I don't have one in front of me but there might be enough room for a 1/4" pipe tap even with a stock pump. It'd be a piece of cake with a block off plate.

I saw you also asked this question on Chevytalk or TriFive. I thought at the time, that taking pressurized oil from the front of the block would'nt be the best method, although this is what Chevrolet did. That means that oil has already been put through the bearings, and the same applies to the rear port where the oil pressure sending unit goes. What I'm getting at is that NO MATTER how you do it, it's still not FULL FILTERING. Not that true spin on block filters are either, (unless you remove the bypass spring and plug the port). I don't know HOW you could convert a 55' 265 to a true full flow filtering system. Follow what I'm saying?
