My 55 Chevy hardtop I just bought has been gutted of all the window regulators, tracks, window mech, etc. Rust bucket 55 chevy hardtops with side glass for part cars are hard to find. Someone told me a 55-57 pontiac parts car would have all the parts I need and would work. Would the window mechanisms, regulators, tracks work? Doors and windows sure look the same. If they are the same I'm looking for a rust bucket parts car. Thanks

i know the 57 Pontiac converts are the same as the Chevys as far as the top mechanisms and windows and what not so i would say it is a real good chance that it'll all interchange... had a friend years ago use the parts from a 57 Pontiac convert to turn a hard top 57 Chevy into a convert... or maybe they were 56s???

Yes, tri-5 chevys and pontiacs all share the same windows, window trim, regulators, etc. The stainless around the windows is all the same too. I believe the doors are the same shape and size, the only differnce being the trim mounting holes.

Agree with those above. Replaced 55 Pontiac door with 55 Chevy. Only additional trim holes on the Chevy. Only difference in tri-5's is from the cowl forward (body wise). Pontiac's longer.

A lot of these parts are available new as reproductions, too. Might be cheaper and quicker (and certainly easier) than trying to hunt for an old poncho.
Another place to try would be Double Nickel in Athens, Georgia. He's got a yard full of donors. (706) 548-6194

If you find your parts car, I need the hood. (55-56 Pontiac). Yes the interior stuff will swap.

I need the headliner bows also but it sounds as if you do also.

Found a guy here locally (Minneapolis) who has a lot of tri-5 Chevy stuff and is a great resource. Also has some Pontiac stuff of the same vintage. John Thompson 651-483-1168
