I'm looking to install a 5 speed transmission in my 54 GMC pickup. It has a 216 6 cyl engine. Is there an adapter plate available, or what do I need to do to make this installation?

    X3.

Factory motor in a '54 GMC should be a GMC 248. That motor will look more like a 216 than a '54 235, but its a different motor.

However, the 216, 235 and 248 all share the same bellhousing and transmission bolt patterns and a T-5 will adapt to the 248 the same way it will to a 216 or 235.
