54 chevy rearend

    Im doing airride and v8 swap in the 54 chevy 4 door.my question is ive heard a few guys run the explorer 8.8 rear end and the one im looking at buying has an offset pinion of about 2" and didnt know if that would effect anything...

    Ford has been using offset rear ends since the fifties and had no problems. You shouldn't either.

    A mid to late 90's S10 4X4 rear is also a popular choice for these cars (2 wheel drive is a different size). Thay are 59 inches drum to drum - same width as stock.

    The offset may cause problems with the tunnel if you go low enough.

    i run late 90s blazer/ jimmy rears. disk brakes, better gearing, and correct bolt pattern.

    I used a 97 jimmy 4x4 3:42 59.5" drum to drum
