Wanting to do away with the torque tube and go to an open drive shaft in my 54 Bel Air hardtop. Been after a 57 chevy rear but no luck. Can get my hands on a Camaro rear end that fits 70 to 81 camaros. Any idea if this one would work. Or any other rear ends to watch out for. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

just like madwrencher said..did the same thing and made my own perches to lower the rear end with out using blocks!.sweet. 3:73 rear gear..works nice on the e-way and gets you out of the hole fine..327/350 combo

I put a '55 4.11 Chev rear in my '54, back in 1968. Today, I'd go for a Camaro or S10, or Malibu should work, too.

I'm using an S-10 4X4 also. Don't get the 2wd rear as it is narrower. I have an 85 Monte Carlo in there right now to make it a roller but it's a little too narrow.
