Great looking ride ! Year's ago a friend of mine had a '54 Bel Air 2dr. Post, Powder Blue/White Top. Had the stock ohv6 with a split manifold. The car was mostly original, but that didn't matter because it was so perfect/near mint as it was. It was stunning.

The '53 & '54's are cool in any guise...and for a long time were overlooked. Glad you've done this one...when it's finished it will be a real knockout !

    Wow, looks great!
I love it when I occasionally find a custom car on this forum that doesn't "lay frame". :p

Wish I was at that point with my 1950. Just too little time...

    '54. Bueno, Junipero!
The '54 Chevs are the real shit. Nothing prettier, they take the Custom route gracefully.
Your painting skills are daring, reckless...Hard to do in a paint booth, let alone in a garage... this is remarkable.
Anxious to see it outside...(is the six staying?)

So after rewiring everything I tried starting it. The starter just spins and won't kick out and engage. Not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

    Coming along nicely

  25. Can you send a picture of how it's wired? Usually the solenoid needs to kick in and engage the drive gear at the same time before the motor will turn at all.

So i put the new starter in. When I jump it it kicks out but won't turn the engine over. The ignition switch gets power. When I turn the key the solenoid terminal gets 6v. But the starter doesn't kick out or turn. Can't figure it out. Anyone?
