Really cool build. When I first saw the pics of the quarters I thought you were makin' a quilt. But it's working out. Looks awesome. Too freakin' cool to have Gene Winfield's fingerprints all over it too. He's a super nice guy.

PM sent to ya about those tail lights.

  14. Hey 235, my wife has a '53 also that has had the gas door filled. Only difference is they left the stock tank. What is the benefit of a 65 mustang tank over any other tank, is it that the fill tube is at the rear? I have been looking for a replacement tank...

  15. good question, hope he knows the anwser I know I plan on running that same gas tank mostly just because it looks good, its cheap, and it will fit nicely in the trunk but theres probably a better reason why most guys use them

I was told the mustang tank give a little more clearance for lowered or bagged rides. Plus easy access ride inside the trunk when you shave the gas door. There are plenty of other reasons though I am sure.

  17. I'd definitely like to see some photos of the install and how it's vented.

Ian Berky has some install and finished pics of the tank he put in his 51' up on his profile. I dont know about the ventilation. I am waiting for THE235KID's pics of how he is doing his tank. I am likin' his build! I took Gene's class at his shop in Mojave last year on halloween weekend.

  19. I like this build a lot too. How was Gene's class? A buddy of mine got to go up and do some pinstriping last year, he liked hanging out at Gene's a lot.

I had a blast... got there a day early and swung by his shop to check things out. He put me to work! haha... really nice guys and the people working for him. He has a lot of hands-on stuff like the leading, gas welding, hammer welding etc. We even got him to open up the containers with some of his cars that were in tv shows for us to check out!

  22. Where did you get your tank from? I have seen those tanks for about $100 but it was without the sending unit and without the filler tube. I am pretty interested in using this tank now too, did it fit pretty easily into the stock location?

  24. For some reason I thought the mustang tanks screwed into the floorpan, is that not right? Where did you finally find a sending unit at?
