The 53' Mercury Rear Quarter Panel Spear Trim measures about 9 1/2" Long. Can someone weigh in on the length dimension of the same style Spear that was used on the 54' as it seems a lot longer. Also, anyone know where either of these can be bought other than on ebay? Thanks everyone!
A 2 door coupe or sedan will have a longer piece than a 4 door. I wish I could be more help but mt '54 is a 2 door wagon and the trim is pretty long on it.HRP
Here is a pic of what I am trying to find out. There are 3 "Spears" on the stock fenders of both the 53's and the 54's. This is a pic of the 54' and I just need to know how long they are.
Im not sure on the length of the 54 ones but they are longer than the 53s. The 53 ones are stainless steel and the 54s are pot metal. They are both being reproduced but I cant remember where to get them at the moment.
This awesome information sir-thank you very much! If you are interested in selling the 6 you have, pm me please with a price. Thanks again.
I found this. I’m not sure of the lengths either. I also need a set for a 1953 Mercury Monterey 4dr. https://shop.kustomcarparts.com/1953-Mercury-Rear-Quarter-Spear-each-trim-1953-merc-spear.htm
Here are the 54 Mercury spears https://shop.kustomcarparts.com/1954-Mercury-Rear-Quarter-Spear-each-trim-1954-merc-spear.htm
Side note, The car in your avatar may actually be more interesting as a 4 door like it is but it looks like it could be one of the easier body style candidates for a 2 door conversion, just curious if you ever considered it?
