Hey all, just picked up someone else's project a couple weeks ago and I need some help identifying what taillights are on her.

I thought 55 Chevy, but the taillight trim I have is much wider than what's on the car!

    Thanks guys, heres some pics!

Thanks for the reply! The Plymouth lights seem to be too large

The last pic I posted is the 55 Chevy tail trim.
Possibly just a poor fab job

  6. This you tube might be of help. My first thought, was that it was for a 56 Chevy light.

Do you have any bezels that came with these? It looks to me the PO may have been trying to french in a set of lenses that would have been cut down to fit the openings.

I agree the openings are NOT correct for any of the lights mentioned above. The angles are wrong, the sharp corner at the transition from vertical to horizontal is wrong and I think the overall size is wrong.

My first thought is it looks like they made the opening to use the top part of a '55 Buick lens without the bezel.

My guess would have been the Plymouth with out the bezel..then there's the 56 Chevy with out bezel..is the extension sheet metal or pot metal? The 56 Buick lens goes into a stock 55 Chev tail light assembly if you remove the lens and divider and back up lens then you can put the Buick lens in its place a little file work needs to be done on the Buick lens to make it fit right..so how about Studebaker? I'm not sure what' the body contour is under the bumper . With out the bezel ...mmmm.. 20190418_192136.jpeg 20190418_192138.jpeg 20190418_192153.jpeg

I agree now seeing those closeups, '56 more likely.

Now that you mention it, I can see that seems to be the case. The car came with the 55 Chevy taillight kit, but neither the lenses or bezel fits
