Hi I have a 52 Buick 4 door and I bought another 52 buick 4 door rearend with torque tube for parts. I am in the process of installing the new rearend when I noticed the coil springs are mounted behind the axle a few inches on the new rearend but are mounted on center on the axle on the car. The parts car was an auto trans. and mine is a three speed man. Did Buick use different rearends for Auto/Man trans? The large frame that attached to the torque tube is also different. Will this new rearend work on my car? Thanks
If the torque tube/driveshaft is the same length, you'll have to change the spring mounts and you should be in the cotton. Do be sure and count the driveshaft and u-joint splines to make sure they are a match also.
I recently became a buick owner. It seems that a Super, Century, Special ,Roadmaster may not be identical cars. For instance in my year the Roadmaster and Super interchange parts and the special and century are alike. The grilles are narrower and I think the bumpers are also. This may or may not be your problem . Best of luck.
If you are swapping rearends for the gear ratio, just swap the pigs. Take the torque tubes and driveshafts off and use the set that fits. If you need the new housing, disregard the above... Dan
