Hello everyone. I have a 51 merc 4 door car im looking for suggestions with pros and cons for suspension upgrade whether it be subframe change out or upgrade the original. Im wanting to run a small block ford engine and wanting to lower front end about 4 inches. Im open to any suggestions so i appreciate all of them thanks

  2. The front suspension is perfectly fine to use after a rebuild. I rebuilt mine with new Kingpins, dropped uprights, shorter coil springs, power steering, improved steering linkage, suspension geometry corrector shims (Keeps the wheels from tilting in when lowered), disc brakes and a beefier sway bar. Butch's Rod Shop makes bolt in engine mounts (I'll be welding mine in). IMG_4784.JPG

^^^And it will outlast anything that you would possibly have replaced it with! Just remember to keep all those grease fittings greased, there's a lot!

Will the power steering box have clearance for sbf?

  5. I am running a 327/300 hp. in my 50 merc with the Powerglide Trans
I used a Hurst motor mount which goes across the Front of the
Engine & the Rear mount on the Trans.,
I am running the Stock front end with No Problems at all & 4 wheel
Drum Brakes that Stop on a Dime.!

    Just my 3.5 cents

  6. Not really sure. Chris at www.shoeboxford.com could tell you exactly.
