Nice! I can relate to your video - except mine didn’t have quite as much gasket cling nor as much piston build up. Yours should clean up nice though. Hope there are no surprises you can’t address. Share your progress.

Great video. You sure got lucky with that block! However, I think that engine must have been kidnapped and taken into the US so when it's assembled bring it up to the border and I'll find a good Canadian home for it! LOL

Finally got around to posting an update on the flatty build. It's a little longer than I normally like to post but it's hard to put several hours of an engine build into 30 minutes of a video. Hope you enjoy.

Aaron, thanks for the update. I've been waiting as I will be going through this in a few months myself.

They aren't all as easy as this one was.
Working on the ignition system today and installing a PCV valve.
I also need to make an engine run stand to start it up.

Chack the cam. If it is an 8CM it is a very desirable cam.

The cam says EA on it and has .335 lift. I think the 8CM cams have .305 lift.

Thanks for the time and effort put forth. But i think, that my vacuum port off my intake goes to the distributor advance? Can you still convert it to a PVC system using the same port?

I’m not sure. But usually the distributer vacuum port is taken off the back of the carb.

Hmmm. Ill double check mine. Good to know. I dont recall a vacuum souce from my carb consideringi rebuilt it. But that was a year plus ago. I remember it being from the intake to the distributor. It was probably plumbed wrong initially when i got it. If need be, is the intake port the same as the carb, or is the carb ported? Thanks for the info.

@getow ,In the book written by Ron Bishop it states "Never connect the distributer vacuum line into intake manifold vacuum."

    The stock carb is ported.

Got started building an engine run stand. I just used what I had laying around. Ordered a radiator, hoses, and clamps.

Looking forward to seeing that flathead running. By the way, you were right on the vacuum port for the distributor off the carb, not the intake. I have and rebuilt the wrong carb that dont have that port, ha. Go figure. But thanks to a fellow HAmber, i landed the right 1 locally. Happy Rabbits day by the the way.

Finally received my water pump rebuild kits. I saved enough money rebuilding them myself that I bought a press to do them:cool:

Aaron, thanks so much for posting this. Your videos will really help me reassemble my C8BA, with all original Merc guts, when I get back to it.
