If you go for a stock-ish/bomba look like your pal's burb its gonna be a sweet truck, plus seein how your 54 turned out i think it will be great.
needs more drop thou. 4" on them sky-hi trucks aint that much, but i'll have to see it assembled 1st i guess.
Keep up keepin up man :D and post pics!

Thanks guys, Im real happy so far too...Its my full time job at the moment!!
Bonez....Yeah Im shooting for that Bomb look but tryn not to go to crazy as it going to be parked curbside and a daily driver to give my Avi a break! Im hoping the 4-5 inches will put it at a nice low but driver height...we will see!

Here is the tranny, new seals, pan, cleaned and painted with the Gennie shifter adapted!

Nick an Ed...Thanks on the 54 props, I am very proud of its turnout. This tho is making me realize how my 54 should have gone....low budget and fast, Instead it was 5yrs and way to much!! The 51 is going to be my daily so im making it safe and reliable, buying the omly things to achieve that! The extra time im putting into cleaning and painting for is worth it.... is just how I like to do things. Makes service and chasing problems alot nicer down the road!

That may be pushing it CJ, Id like to think so but it would be the fastest body strip, refinish and assembly out there by one guy if I did!

Hahaha, I know man..its my sickness! Everytime I took something apart I thought "well I might as well take the next peice off too" Before I knew it was just a chassis!!!
Glad I did though as I found alot of broken part...i.e., broken main leaf, cracked flex plate, crooked rearend (to narrow also). The good thing is tho its just been alot of cleaning and aerosol paint to make it look good!

I have a love/hate relationship with them actually..after putting 3 in my 54 from dif companys and having major issues I was going crazy:mad:! (and yes they were set up correctly as far as TV cable) But it goes well in it with the gearing setup!
This little 283 backed up by the 350 worried me until I drove it...with a 3:36 rearend in it and tire size it rolls 75 at a smooth rpm on the freeway!!! so it stays!:D

What are you doing for a steering box? Looks like you are using the GM manifold that has the "dip" for extra clearance

Yes using the stock box, Its shimmed over a inch..thats why I used that bit od header wrap to help keep down the heat a bit on the box. The motor is offset just a little bit to help make it all work!
