Found some video of my grandfather and his friends racing in the 50's. We believe this video to be somewhere around 1956. They would race on the flight lines at Randolph Field and Martindale Air Force Bases.

Thanks for sharing this film. This is one of the coolest things i've seen in a long time. Hope to see more. Maybe others will share treasures like this.

Didn't they just close that track due to low car counts?

  14. I agree with Angry Frenchman, looks older than '56. ChevyRat what makes you think it's as late as 1956?

Back then the races were a family affair and my mother attended many of them. She seemed to think it was 56. I will have to pick her brain a little more. We have several photographs to go with the videos. Some are dated.

This one was owned by Harold Lozano of the Lozano Brothers Porting here in town. The car in the background is my grandfathers.

This is my Grandfather and his car. Would love to find this car.

Here's a pic of him at his service station. He's in the uniform, my grandmother in the middle and a rep from Humble Oil and Gas.

  26. I would guess 1955. Texas ran yellow plates for odd years, black plates in even. Note the '53-55 Stude in the background at 0:18 and the fact that the Merc is wearing a yellow license plate. That makes it either '53 or '55.

'56 was also the 1st year TX plates had all letters/numbers the same size...that photo of the Jeepster looks like a 56 plate based on this layout, so I would guess the video dates from 55-ish.

    Pre '56 plate

Sorry your thread kind of got stolen, very cool videos though.

What happened to them by the way? Clicked on the links again and it says the videos have been removed.
