Does anyone know if any of the 50's chevy car drum brakes can be retrofitted onto a '56-'59 Chevy truck front axle? In photographs, the spindles look VERY close.

  2. 54' chevy car spindle will work, that was a real common swap back in the day to get 5 on 4.75" bc.

  3. '54 works great. use the inner race and bearing from the truck, and outer bearing and race from the car.

It's been 25 years since I did that, but I believe that's the way we had to do it.

  4. Early Classic has a disc brake kit for those. I had one, nice kit-very nice kit, but I had to let it go for a trade.

Disc brakes? They didn't run those on '56 Chevy trucks at the drag strip in 1963. :D
