50's Buick Nailhead ID ?

Lookingat a couple of 50' Nailheads, one should be 1955 (likethe car its in) engine # starts with V8 the other starts V5 ? heads have different casting info on them so I figure not the same year ? I'm used to Olds so this is all new, anyone out there that can bring me up to speed ? appreciate it.

 

castings should start 13 11 or 10

but v codes are for year/model

v720080 is 1955

 

The # I was looking at is the serial # on the drivers side of the block, are you talking the casting # on the rear of the block ? if so what # relate to what year/size ?

Thx buford, just signed up there and it seems to have answered my questions, I think one if a 54 and the other a 55 but both series 50.

 

Quick ID info for ya on the 53-56 engines... Look at the crank pulley, If it has a damper attached, it's a 322. If it does NOT have a damper attached (i.e. just the pulley itself) it is a 264.
