Hey All, Anyone out there run a 50' overdrive tranny, 6V positive ground system and a Vertex mag? I have all the parts for trans., relay, govenor, etc. My questions is the wiring. On a stock diagram there is a wire from the ignition switch to the + side of the coil, then from the - side of the coil to the firewall relay. No coil of course with a mag. Can i go direct from ign. switch to relay? Does the RPM's of a stock/coil distributor affect when the O.D. engages? Or is it just a power source? Miller-Offy
I think it cuts out the ing for the OD to hook up, so you might have to get off the throttle while you engage it.....Roach.
That is for the "kick-down" feature. When the throttle is mashed in OD, the switch on the throttle linkage opens up, momentarily cutting ignition so the trans can shift out of OD and into third automatically. If you don't have this hooked up, you have to take your foot off the pedal briefly, or cycle the clutch to get the trans to come out OD and back into 3rd.
