5.60x15 protrac front tire

I just got a set of 5.60x15 protracs from coker tire for my 62 falcon, Could someone that has a set tell me if the thick, raised sidewall should be the inside or the outside it looks strange to me.

Rumor has it that the raised side faces out to protect the sidwall from curb scrapes. Generally though it is mounted on the inside because it looks better. I run Firestone bias plies on my roadster with the smooth side out.

 

Thanks Fogger that is what I figured it was for. Will probably turn them in, it does look a lot better.
